All About Us:

I'm Julia. I'm a co-owner here, at The Bougie Hummingbird. I turned 40 years old this past February 22nd, and shockingly, 2 is not my lucky number. I have two moms - and that isn't a hip way of nonchalantly mentioning I was raised by lesbians - I am adopted.

I was born in 1982 and officially adopted a few months later, by Bill and Maureen. I had a idyllic childhood.

I had a health scare about 5 years ago, and Maureen (Mimi) said, "I think - I think you need to find your birth parents - even if for health history ONLY." The story of the actual search is a long one and a lot to type; so that will be saved for a later date - or maybe in parts.

Mimi passed away 2 years ago (almost to the day). Not a day goes by that I don't think about my mom.

One day (after Becky had moved back to the Buffalo, NY area) we were chatting in Becky's backyard (as people do) about what we would do if we could do ANYTHING. As it turns out - we both had the same passion - we would want to feed people.

Becky has a love for hummingbirds. I, as far as birds go, like hummingbirds best. We brought Mimi in (in spirit) with the Bougie - knowing that Mimi would ONLY spend money on the BEST of baked goods if they were a good price - the most bang for your buck.

The Bougie Hummingbird was born that day. We are a boutique, custom bakery specializing in celebrations! We are always willing to take on a challenge.
